October 2017

Price: £95 PLUS VAT
Format: DOWNLOADABLE PDF

This seminar brought together stakeholders and policymakers to consider the future for apprenticeship provision in Northern Ireland.

Delegates examined the implementation of the Apprenticeship Levy - along with its impact on employers - and on the delivery of the Securing our Success and Generating our Success strategies, as well as Departmental priorities for the future.

Those attending discussed how apprenticeships fit into the aims of the industrial strategy - including higher level apprenticeships, and for industries targeted for growth by the Strategic Advisory Forum and skills barometer - as well as how to best promote apprenticeships as an attractive option for young people.

Further sessions looked at the priorities for raising standards in apprenticeships, including the role of inspectors, providers and learning institutions in promoting excellence in qualifications - including through enhanced collaboration - and the latest thinking on ensuring that qualifications are of high quality, are flexible and of relevance to the needs of young people and the wider economy.

A keynote address was delivered by Michael Gould, Assistant Director of the Youth Policy Division, Department for the Economy.
